A 20-year-old Lakewood man was killed after his vehicle reportedly went out of a control at a high rate of speed eastbound along State Route 516 (aka Kent Des Moines Road) in Kent.
Raymond Marroquin Perez died of multiple blunt force injuries, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office.
At about 9:05 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, Perez’s vehicle went to pass another vehicle near West Meeker Street when it went out of control and slid sideways into a ditch, according to the Washington State Patrol. The vehicle flipped, struck a metal pole and ended up coming to rest on its top.
Perez, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was ejected and died at the scene, according to the State Patrol.
The State Patrol listed the cause of the crash as speed. The crash remains under investigation to see if any type of impairment was involved.
The State Patrol said in a news release that it wants to stress that speed and impairment are contributing factors in many collisions and pleads with drivers to make safe and good decisions before getting behind the wheel.
