Kentwood High School’s Brittany Woke won the triple jump and took third in the long jump at the state 4A track and field meet at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma.

The senior edged out Curtis’ Saudia Heard by 1 ¼ inches, with a distance of 38-05 ¼ in the triple jump on Thursday. Woke got 18-4 ¼, a personal best, in the long jump. Rogers High’s Jelani Heath won the long jump (19-11 ½) on Friday.

Winning a state title is familiar territory for Woke, who took was the long jump champion last year. She took third in the triple jump at last year’s state meet.

Other state results

Breaking a personal record in the 110-meter high hurdles, with a time of 14.09 seconds, wasn’t enough to get Kentridge High senior Tanner Conner the state title he’s after.

Gonzaga Prep’s Nick Johnson beat Conner by four-one-hundredths of a second to secure first place on Friday. Johnson edged out Conner in the race last year to win the state title.

Conner will try for state title in the 300 hurdles and long jump on Saturday, the final day of the state meet.
