King County Sheriff’s Office still investigating double shooting

King County Sheriff’s Office detectives are still trying to determine what led to an exchange of gunfire on Nov. 7 between two men near Kent and whether to arrest anyone.

Both men survived after firing multiple shots at each other at about 9 a.m. in the 26100 block of 78th Avenue South in an unincorporated part of the county near the city of Kent border, according to the Sheriff’s Office. It was an altercation between a 29-year-old Pacific man and a 30-year-old Covington man, according to Sheriff’s Office spokesman Ryan Abbott. Paramedics transported both men to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

“They are hoping to interview both subjects at some point this week to determine which way they will go with the case,” Abbott said in a Monday email.

Because it is an active case, Abbott said detectives wouldn’t comment about what might have led to the shooting or any other details they might have.

Once interviews are finished, detectives will refer the case to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office to determine if any charges will be filed, Abbott said.
