Candidates interested in filing for any of the 331 positions open for election in King County this year may file online or in person for office May 13-17.
The positions subject to election in Kent include mayor, three City Council seats, two Municipal Court judges, two Kent School Board directors, the King County Council District 5 seat, King County sheriff, King County executive and four Port of Seattle commissioner spots.
King County Elections encourages candidates to file online, which is the easiest and most efficient method. Candidates who prefer to file in-person at King County Elections Renton headquarters will be directed to county computers to file on-line. Staff assistance will be available.
Key dates:
• May 13, 9 a.m. to May 17, 4 p.m., on-line candidate filing
• May 13, 8:30 a.m. to May 17, 4:30 p.m., in-person candidate filing
• May 17, approximately 5 p.m., lot draw to determine ballot order
• May 20, 4:30 p.m., deadline to withdraw
• May 29, 4:30 p.m., deadline to file local voters’ pamphlet
• Aug. 6, Primary election
• Nov. 5, General election
To file for office, candidates must be registered in the district for which they are filing. More information about candidate filing is available on the King County Elections website.
