The King County Council Monday unanimously approved the appointment of Kent resident Bill Boyce to the King County Children and Youth Advisory Board.
Sponsored by Councilmember Reagan Dunn, the motion adds Boyce, the Kent City Council president, to the board representing the Sound Cities Association and County Council District 9, which includes Kent’s East Hill and is served by Dunn.
“Bill has been involved in the lives of children for decades, through both the school district and the Rotary,” Dunn said in a news release. “He has made an investment in the kids of Kent and South King County and that experience will be invaluable in deciding how the levy funds should be used to help young people and their families.”
“I’m excited to bring my experience serving students of the Kent School District to the board,” Boyce said. “I hope to bring the diverse issues that face communities within Kent to the table and work with other board members to address needs in their communities as well.”
Boyce chairs the council’s Economic & Community Development Committee and is as a member of the Operations Committee, Public Safety Committee and Lodging Tax Advisory Committee. Boyce also serves on the Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority.
Boyce served for 16 years on the Kent School District Board of Directors, with four terms as board president. He also is a past president and charter member of the Kent Sunrise Rotary Club and served for 13 years as a commissioner for the Criminal Justice Training Center.
Boyce lives with his wife in the Meridian neighborhood on the East Hill. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business from City University and has worked 29 years for Boeing, currently working as a 737 human resources leader.
The King County Children and Youth Advisory Board is an oversight board comprised of county residents and stakeholders with geographically and culturally diverse perspectives to make recommendations and monitor distribution of levy proceeds. The board consists of experts, researchers and community leaders.
