Kentwood seniors Robbie Morris and Catherine Drake are the Kent Rotary Students of the Week, for their achievements in math and science.
Morris is the son of Roger and Dede Morris of Kent.
Morris’ achievements include competing in the American Mathematics Competition, tutoring other students and sporting an “A” in both AP calculus and chemistry. Morris also excels outside the classroom. He played varsity football this past fall and currently is on the varsity baseball team. In addition, he is the editor of the school yearbook, which involves designing the layout and editing considerable copy.
Morris anticipates attending a four-year university after graduating, possibly the University of Washington or Montana State University. His intended major is mechanical engineering.
Drake is the daughter of Janet and Doug Drake of Kent.
Drake’s achievements include being a peer tutor in math. A standout in the math class, Drake currently is taking AP calculus and physics.
She’s plenty talented in extracurricular activities as well. Drake is involved with Key Club, is a part of National Honor Society, is the captain of the Kentwood golf team and is an executive officer of USMC JROTC.
After graduating, Drake hopes to attend the University of Washington or the US Naval Academy. Drake would like to major in mechanical engineering and become a Navy pilot.
