The Kentwood grad now moves on to perform on the March 1-2 shows, when viewers get to start voting for their favorites. The top men sing March 1 followed by the top women March 2. The first elimination round is March 3. The broadcast begins at 8 each night.)
“American Idol” viewers should find out Thursday night whether Kent’s Stefano Langone advances to the top 24.
Langone, 21, joined James Durbin for a rendition of “Get Back” by the Beatles on Wednesday night’s show on Fox. Several contestants were either advanced or cut but no decision was announced about Langone.
The remainder of the top 24 are expected to be announced on Thursday night’s show.
The judges seemed to enjoy Langone’s performance of “Get Back.” Each contestant was required to sing a Beatles song as part of a duet or trio.
“Stefano, you started off a little show, like you were a little timid,” judge Randy Jackson said on the show. “I was like, ‘Kick in, I know you got it.’ Finally, you got it together.”
Langone, a Kentwood High School graduate, was one of 61 contestants who were still alive for the title going into Wednesday’s show.
“Unreal you guys,” judge Steven Tyler said. “I don’t think I’ve ever heard two higher voices together before.”
The top 24 move on to sing on the March 1-2 shows, when viewers get to start voting for their favorites.
