Kent’s Frager Farm Stand owner shoots, kills man found inside business

The 64-year-old owner of Frager Farm Stand in unincorporated Kent shot and killed a man early Wednesday morning after he found the man inside his business office.

The business owner, who lives next door to his Frager Farm Stand in the 25100 block of Frager Road South, called 911 at about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday to report the shooting, according to an email from Sgt. Cindi West, spokeswoman for the King County Sheriff’s Office.

“The man said he was in his home and heard a noise coming from the area of his business (on the same property),” West said. “He took his shotgun and went to look around. When he got to the business he saw two men in his office. The homeowner fired a shot and struck and killed one of the men. The other man was taken into custody when we arrived.”

The man killed appeared to be about 20 years old, West said.

“We don’t have an official name or age on him yet,” she said.

The other man the owner found inside the business is 21 years old. Deputies booked the second man into the King County jail on warrants. West said she didn’t have a hometown for that man.

West said there isn’t much information yet on what happened moments before the owner fired the shot.

“Once the investigation is done the case will be forwarded to the (King County) prosecutor’s office for review,” West said. “It will be up to them to decide if the homeowner actions were appropriate.”

The Sheriff’s Office responded to the call rather than the Kent Police because the property is outside the Kent city limits.
