Kent School District hosts a Job Shadow and Community Service Expo from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday to help high school students connect with local businesses to sign up for job shadow opportunities and community service options.
The district requires five hours of community service and a job shadow experience for graduation.
Employers who provide a job to shadow allow one student or a small group to observe the daily tasks of a willing employee. Last year’s expo drew 200 students.
“Job shadowing lets students envision themselves in a potential career,” says Superintendent Edward Lee Vargas, “and the opportunity to serve the community opens their eyes to how they can make a difference in the world.
“Both aspects are part of the successful futures the district is committed to providing them.”
Kentridge High School gym is at 12430 SE 208th St., Kent.
