New Beginnings Christian Fellowship hosted the Kent Ministerial Association and members of the Faith Community to discuss an Advisory Board for KentHOPE at a coffee hour on April 26.
KentHOPE is expanding its presence in the community to build a strong coalition of churches who support a Day Center and to expand into an overnight Shelter in Kent. The coffee hour had representation from 30 different congregations.
Pastors say they are eager to help in the effort to help with the members of our Community facing Homelessness. A fundraising event was discussed for the Fall. Dr. Leslie Braxton offered his church to host such an event and he pledged his congregation to place on their church budget $10,000 to support the effort.
Kent United Methodist Church under the leadership of Pat Gray, Sarah Davidson and Verla Morrison have gotten approval from their administrative board with the support of their Pastor, Jon Short, to host a dinner-auction with funds to go directly to KentHOPE this year.
