Kent woman, man die in double shooting on East Hill

Both lying on the ground at Valli Kee Apartments; man had gun in his hand

A Kent woman and man died from gunshot wounds at about 1:45 p.m. Wednesday on the East Hill outside of the Valli Kee Apartments, in the 23400 block of 104th Avenue Southeast.

Officers found a woman lying on the ground and a man lying nearby with a gun in his hand, according to a Kent Police news release. Both sustained gunshot wounds. First responders performed life-saving efforts on the woman and the man but each died at the scene.

Police released the name of the apartment complex on Thursday but have not released any other information such as the ages and relationship between the individuals, the number of shots fired or what witnesses saw.

“The investigation is in its initial stages and I am unable to confirm or provide information to your questions at this time,” Kent Police Assistant Chief Jarod Kasner said in an email.

No others are believed to be involved in the incident, police said. Officers are working to clarify the events that led to the double shooting.

The King County Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to release the names and ages of the man and woman later this week.

The Valli Kee Apartments are owned and operated by the King County Housing Authority.
