Kent police responded to a domestic violence case on April 28 that ultimately resulted in the death of a 28-year-old Kent woman from life-threatening injuries reportedly inflicted by her mother.
On Sunday evening, police were dispatched to an apartment on the 1600 block of West Smith Street after receiving a domestic violence assault report. Once police arrived, the Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority was already treating the woman, who had significant injuries, according to the police.
The Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority reportedly notified the police after learning a family member had caused the victim’s injuries.
The police determined the 58-year-old mother of the victim was the aggressor in the assault, according to the Kent Police Department.
Still at the scene, the victim’s condition quickly worsened, and medics began CPR measures before taking her to a local hospital, according to police. Although receiving lifesaving medical aid, the woman died on April 29.
The victim’s mother was arrested and booked into King County Jail the night of the incident. Kent police detectives are investigating.
