An early Sunday morning, Sept. 19 shooting in Kent left one man dead and two injured.
Officers responded at about 1:18 a.m. to the 1700 block of West Meeker Street near a gas station to reports of an altercation that resulted in gunshots being fired, according to Kent Police.
When officers arrived, they found one man in his mid-30s and another man in his early 20s with gunshot wounds. Puget Sound Fire and paramedics stabilized the two men who were transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Officers learned while treating the two men that another man had fled in their vehicle with a third male shooting victim.
Police found the vehicle, but didn’t disclose the location. A man in his 20s was found dead near the vehicle with gunshot wounds. A K-9 unit searched for the suspect but did not locate him.
There is limited information about the suspect and his identity is unknown, according to police.
There were several witnesses to the altercation and gunshots, according to police. The reason for the dispute has yet to be determined.

11th homicide in 2021
The killing is the 11th homicide in the first nine months of 2021 in Kent. The city had nine homicides in 2020, four in 2019 and seven in 2018.
