David Cohen, 16, of Kent will compete in the 2011 Pokémon Trading Card Game World Championship Aug. 12-14 in San Diego.
Cohen will go up against 350 of the world’s best players from 25 countries in an effort to earn the World Champion title and a $7,500 scholarship.
The championships will include 16 hours of card-wielding competition. Each player has competed in more than 10 separate Play! Pokémon tournaments since the 2010-2011 season kicked-off last November. On the road to the world championships, Cohen and other players have excelled at the city, state, regional and national levels.
