Kent Police are looking for who shot and killed a 17-year-old boy and injured a 16-year-old boy during a dispute early Tuesday morning near 64th Avenue South and West Meeker Street.
Both boys are from Kent, according to a Wednesday email from police spokesman Jarod Kasner. Paramedics transported the wounded teen to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Officers were dispatched at about 12:16 a.m. after a report of a shooting. Officers arrived and saw two males had been shot and one was dead, Kasner said. The King County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet released the name of the victim.
“The sequence of events that resulted in the shooting of the two males are undetermined at this time,” Kasner said. “There is no suspect information. Detectives responded and processed the scene for evidence and interviewed potential witnesses and the (injured boy).”
Police would not say whether it was a gang-related shooting.
This marks the sixth fatal shooting of teens or men ages 17 to 35 since April 8 in Kent, Federal Way, Renton, Burien and Seattle. Arturo Marcial-Alvarez, 19, of Kent, died after departing a Metro bus on April 14 at Pacific Highway South and Dash Point Road in Federal Way. Police have made an arrest in only one of the shootings, a killing on April 8 at a house party in Federal Way.
