The two-week old strike in the Kent school district may finally be over.
Kent School District Superintendent Edward Lee Vargas said by phone tonight the District and Kent Education Association reached a contract agreement at about 7 p.m., which if ratified by the member will end the two-week teachers’ strike.
“Part of the agreement is we will not discuss the detail until the agreement has been present for ratification (to the members) at 7:30 a.m. tomorrow, “ Vargas said.
The meeting will take place at Kentlake High School, the same place where the members voted to go on strike back on Aug. 26.
“I want to congratulate the two negotiation teams for finding common ground that allows us to move forward. Now we can focus on the students,” Vargas added
Details of the agreement will be available tomorrow.
