Volunteers of the Kent Arts Commission invite the public to join them in welcoming artists from throughout the Puget Sound region during the Kent Summer Art Exhibit & Reception from 5 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 11.
The reception is being catered by Airways Brewing Company through their kitchen at Beer & Bistro, located in historic downtown Kent.
All ages are welcome to attend the free event, made possible by generous, private sponsorship from Osborne Machler.
Every summer, the Kent Arts Commission displays photographs, paintings, works on paper, prints and collages in the Kent Summer Art Exhibit. To be included in this show, artists from throughout the state submit digital images of their work. The artwork chosen for this year’s show was selected by two jurors, Minh Carrico and Molly Magai.
The exhibiting artists are: Laura Ackerman; Brandon Aleson; Juan Alonso-Rodriguez; John Armstrong; Joe Becker; Shelly F. Cohen; Carina A. del Rosario; Adele B. Eustis; Patty Haller; Fran Holt; Catherine Kail-Tucker; Robert Xavier Lober; Nancy McLaughlin; Susan Melrath; Janet C. Mitchell; Stephanie Nicoll Reilly; Mauricio Robalino; David Scherrer; Nick Shiflet; Jason Starkie; Gretchen Van Dyke and Suze Woolf.
To accommodate a large number of artworks of all different styles, the exhibit is displayed in the Centennial Center Gallery and adjacent conference rooms. Be sure to visit the elevator lobby and the Centennial Center Conference Rooms North and South to see the entire show.
This year 42 artists applied, and the jurors selected 56 artworks from 22 artists for exhibition.
The exhibit is free and open to the public, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday, closed holidays, through Aug. 31.
