For the Reporter

Kent’s Trevor Cosby recently attended the Eastern Music Festival summer study program at Guilford College in Greensboro, N.C., a five-week competitive high school and college program training in orchestral, piano, conducting, guitar and choral performance.

Cosby was selected out of 550-plus applicants to receive one out of 181 positions in the EMF Young Artists Orchestras.

He joined fellow aspiring musicians in Greensboro to study under the guidance of private teachers and internationally recognized conductors Gerard Schwarz, Grant Cooper and Eric Garcia.

Cosby along with other talented students lived on campus for the extent of the program. The Young Artists Orchestra Series, for music students ages 14 to 23, provides a combination of classroom and performance experiences. The broad curriculum includes playing in one of two orchestras, individual lessons, master classes, and recitals.
