Volunteers are needed to help create a new trail in Kent at the Old Fishing Hole park, 24945 Frager Road S.
The event is from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 7 as part of the 14th annual National Trails Day.
Volunteers should dress for the weather (no sandals or flip-flops) and bring a shovel and work gloves if they have them (supplied tools are limited). Republic Services donated a yard waste dumpster and Starbucks on Fourth and Meeker will provide coffee and hot chocolate. Water also will be available, and volunteers are encouraged to bring their own water containers and refill from a provided cooler.
To keep the event manageable and safe, volunteers are asked to register by noon on Wednesday, June 4 at KentWA.gov/ComeVolunteer.
