Kent schools will be closed Thursday, Dec. 1 due to unsafe roads because of snow and ice in some parts of the district.
“Out of an abundance of caution, all schools, offices and administration center are closed today (Thursday), according to a Kent School District statement early Thursday morning. “With our district covering over 72 square miles, we have to consider all of our geography. Even though some (or many) of our main roads are clear, that does not mean all of the side roads, neighborhoods, parking lots, sidewalks and walking routes are safe for our students, families, and staff.”
• All school activities and athletics are canceled, including any community use events.
The district announced Wednesday evening a two-hour delayed start.
