Children ages 12 and older in the Kent School District will be able to get COVID-19 shots at one of two vaccination clinics set up by the district.
The two clinics will offer Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine:
• Kent-Meridian High School, 10020 SE 256th St.
Noon to 3 p.m. Monday, May 24
The second dose will be administered on June 14
• Kentwood High School, 25800 164th Ave. SE, Covington
3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, May 27
The second dose will be administered on June 17
In Washington state, children ages 12 and higher can are eligible for the vaccine. The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine was approved by the federal government on May 12 for expanded ages. The same day, the Western States Scientific Safety Review Workgroup approved the Pfizer vaccine for expanded use in Washington state.
The state Department of Health recommends eligible children get vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as possible so they can return to normal activities such as in-person learning, sports and visiting friends.
The Pfizer vaccine is safe and effective in adolescents 12 and up. Just like adults, children may experience some common side effects 1 to 3 days after vaccination, including sore arm, tiredness or headache.
Registration
Parents/guardians can register their children for a vaccination time online at Kent-Meridian or Kentwood. When you arrive, please follow the signs in the parking lot to either the KM gym or the KW Commons.
Consent forms
Parents/guardians will need to provide consent for their children by completing the signed consent form. Students aged 18 and up or who are 16 or 17 and emancipated may provide their own consent for vaccination by providing the relevant ID or paperwork.
Transportation resources
Hopelink Mobility is offering support in finding rides to and from vaccine appointments in King County. There are no eligibility criteria, and the ride is free in most circumstances. The request can be made online or by calling 425-943-6706 (Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dial 5 for interpretation).
Alternative vaccination sites
• Kent ShoWare Center: Walk-in vaccination, no appointment required, available Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., while supplies last.
• Auburn Outlet Collection: Vaccination without an appointment is available Monday-Tuesday and Thursday-Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., while supplies last.
