Kent Police arrested a man for investigation of fourth-degree assault after he reportedly punched a roommate who accused him of stealing food from a refrigerator.
Officers responded to a dispute at about 4:31 p.m. on Sept. 21 at a home in the 24500 block of 104th Avenue Southeast, according to the police report.
A man told police his roommate had stolen his food from their refrigerator, eaten it and then punched him after he accused him of taking the food. An officer noted the man was bleeding from his face and head.
The roommate who threw the punches had bloody knuckles. When asked how his knuckles got bloody, the man told police, “I beat his ass.” The man denied eating the food and claimed the other man hit him first.
The report didn’t indicate what kind of food the roommates fought over.
Malicious mischief
Officers arrested a man for investigation of malicious mischief after he allegedly tore the metal cover off a gas pump at a service station so he could have something to sleep on during the night.
Officers initially responded to a call at about 11:48 p.m. on Sept. 22 because of a man sleeping in a business parking lot in the 24500 block of 104th Avenue Southeast, according to the police report.
An officer saw the man, woke him up and the man then walked across the street. A few moments later, officers heard the sound of metal breaking from across the street.
Police went over to the Arco station and found the same man from earlier in the night laying on a metal panel. He also had a garbage can lid near his head. The man had taken off his shoes, backpack and one of the two pairs of jeans he had on. The man’s backpack had a video game device and a couple of games for it.
A station employee said the pump had to be taken out of service because of the torn off panel.
Assault
Police arrested a father for investigation of fourth-degree assault for allegedly shaking his 4-year-old son and dropping him to the floor during an incident at about 6:18 p.m. on Sept. 20 at an apartment in the 400 block of East Novak Lane.
The man lives in the apartment with his girlfriend and their 4-year-old boy, according to the police report.
The girlfriend told officers her boyfriend grabbed the boy by his arms and threw him on a bed. When she tried to get the boy, the father picked him up again and dropped him to the floor.
The father said the boy was crying in the bedroom so he went to check him out. He said his girlfriend tried to pry the boy away from him. He said he tossed the boy on the bed but denied dropping him to the floor. He said he would never hurt his own son.
Theft
Officers arrested a man for investigation of theft after he reportedly took an electrical barbecue burner from a home on Sept. 20 in the 800 block of Hazel Avenue North.
Officers responded to a suspicious person call and found the man sitting on a lawn in front of a home, according to the police report.
The man held a burner in his hand and said he had found it in a nearby yard. Officers talked to neighbors and found a homeowner who said his barbecue burner was missing.
The man also carried a backpack with female clothing and a prescription pill bottle for a woman. He said he found the backpack.
Police found out the man had a California warrant for auto theft and a King County warrant for burglary.
