Kent RFA releases locations open to beat the heat

If the heat becomes too much to handle, several air-conditioned locations in Kent, SeaTac and Covington are open to the public to cool off.

If the heat becomes too much to handle, several air-conditioned locations in Kent, SeaTac and Covington are open to the public to cool off.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Western Washington from Thursday through Saturday with highs climbing into the 90s.

The Kent Regional Fire Authority released the following list of locations, which also will have free bottled water available:

• Kent Commons: 525 4th Ave. N.

Th.-Fri. 6 am-9 pm; Sat. 8 am-9 pm

• Kent Library: 212 2nd Ave. N.

Th. 10 am-9 pm; Fri. 10 am- 6 pm; Sat. 10 am-5 pm

• Kent Senior Center: 600 E. Smith St.

Th.-Fri. 8:30 am-4:30 pm

• SeaTac Community Center: 13735 24th Ave. S.

M-Th. 8:30 am-9:45 pm.; Fri. 8:30 am-5 pm; Sat. 10 am-4 pm

• Valley View Library: 17850 Military Road S., SeaTac

Th. 10 am-9 pm; Fri. 10 am- 6 pm; Sat. 10 am-5 pm

• Covington Library: 27100 164th Ave. SE.

Th. 10 am-9 pm; Fri. 10 am- 6 pm; Sat. 10 am-5 pm

Other spots to keep cool: Shopping malls, theaters, grocery stores.

Hot weather safety tips:

• Check on at-risk friends, including the elderly

• Keep hydrated

• Stay inside until later in the day when temperatures drop

• Call 911 for heat related medical emergencies
