Jacelyn Boschok of Kent has been appointed to the Green River College Board of Trustees by Gov. Jay Inslee.
Boschok replaces Pete Lewis, whose 5-year term expired in Sept. 2016. Lewis was appointed to the board in 2011, and served as board chair for two years.
Boschok is the vice president of the Washington State Labor Council, the president of the Washington State Alliance for Retired Americans and a member of the Board of Directors for Puget Sound Advocates for Retirement Action. She previously worked as a material processor and resource facilitator for Boeing Commercial Airplane Group and as an elected business representative of Aerospace Machinists Union District 751.
Prior to earning her Bachelor of Science in agriculture from the University of Missouri-Columbia, Boschok took courses at Forest Park Community College in St. Louis, Mo. During her time at Boeing and the Machinists Union, she witnessed many employees use worker retraining programs to further their education and careers.
“I understand the importance of having an educated workforce and the ability to get retrained if your career stalls, you’ve been laid off or you just want to do something new and different,” Boschok said. “There needs to be opportunities available and I look forward to working with Green River to serve the needs of our community as best as possible.”
Boschok joins on the board Claudia Kauffman, former state senator; Tim Clark, former Kent City councilman and educator; Linda Cowan, former Auburn School District superintendent; and Sharonne Navas, co-founder and executive director of the Equity in Education Coalition.
