Kent Police track down details about pedestrian death, shooting

Parts of Dec. 15 case near East Hill sports bar remain undetermined

Kent Police have cleared up a few more details about the pedestrian death and shooting Dec. 15 near an East Hill sports bar, but other parts of the incident remain unresolved.

Joseph Osell Page, 47, of Bellevue, died at the scene after being struck by a vehicle at around 1:45 a.m. in the 23900 block of 104th Avenue Southeast, according to an email from Kent Police spokesman Jarod Kasner. Page is not associated with the men involved in a nearby shooting outside of Sam’s Sports Bar, 23803 104th Ave. SE., Kasner said.

“The driver of the vehicle has been identified and is being cooperative with investigators,” Kasner said on Friday. “No charges have been filed at this time as the investigation is still ongoing.”

The driver fled the scene in what police described as a hit-and-run incident.

Police found Page unresponsive in the roadway about the same time that officers responded to a report of a shooting outside the sports bar. Police were unsure initially whether the pedestrian death and the shooting were related.

Two men, each 21, sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, according to police. One was shot in the foot and the other in the arm.

Detectives have not been able to determine what led to the shooting or the connection between the men who shot each other.

‘There have been no arrests in the shooting that took place,” Kasner said. “The subjects that were struck are being uncooperative with investigators and the investigation.”

Witnesses on social media said several shots rang out following the altercation between the men. Surveillance video showed shots being fired in a parking lot near the sports bar. K.K. Market, a business next door to the sports bar, was sprayed by bullets, witnesses said.
