Kent Police are still trying to locate the suspect in a triple shooting Sept. 19 that killed one man and injured two others.
“Our detectives are still following leads and building their case,” Kent Police Cmdr. Robert Hollis said in a Sept. 24 email.
Hollis said police had not received any tips yet about the shooting. Police asked on Sept. 19 for anyone with information to contact the department.
Officers responded at about 1:18 a.m. to the 1700 block of West Meeker Street near a gas station to reports of an altercation that resulted in gunshots being fired, according to Kent Police.
When officers arrived, they found one man in his mid-30s and another man in his early 20s with gunshot wounds. Paramedics transported both men to a local hospital.
Officers learned while treating the two men that another man had fled in their vehicle with a third male shooting victim.
Police found the vehicle on the West Hill, but didn’t disclose the specific location. A man in his 20s was found dead near the vehicle with gunshot wounds. A K-9 unit searched for the suspect but did not locate him.
There is limited information about the suspect and his identity is unknown, according to police.
Hollis said the two injured men are from South King County while the man who died is from California. It is the 11th homicide so far this year in Kent. There were nine homicides in 2020, four in 2019 and seven in 2018.
“Unknown at this time,” Hollis said in response to what led to the dispute.
