Kent Police are still trying to track down three men involved in a May 12 home-invasion robbery on the West Hill that ended with the fatal shooting of a 46-year-old man and assaults of two other people.
“Three male suspects entered the home and one opened fire,” Police Chief Rafael Padilla told the City Council on May 19 during his public safety report. “The case is not complete, but we identified the main person and hope to arrest him and find the other two males.”
Dennis Wyatt was fatally shot, according to a May 21 email from Assistant Chief Jarod Kasner. The suspects also assaulted a 59-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman.
“We have solid leads and are pretty hopeful we will get this case wrapped up,” Padilla said.
Kasner said the residents in the home and the suspects knew each other from previous interactions and had some type of dispute.
“The entire sequence of events is still being determined,” Kasner said when asked about the cause of the dispute.
The shooting occurred at about 5 a.m. May 12 at a home in the 24000 block of 35th Avenue South, just east of Interstate 5 and west of Military Road South.
