The Kent Police Department will host an open house at the West Hill Woodmont Police substation, 26226 Pacific Hwy S., on Tuesday, Sept. 9 from 6-7 p.m.
Police staff also will have an open house on the East Hill at the Panther Lake substation, 10842 S.E. 208th St., on Wednesday Sept. 10, from 6-7 p.m.
The Woodmont substation opened in 2008, and the Panther Lake substation in 2011. They both have new signage posted identifying their affiliation with the Kent Police Department.
Residents can meet Chief Ken Thomas and other members of the department, enjoy refreshments, and get some crime prevention information. This is a chance to learn more about what the substations are used for.
The public should be aware that the Kent Police department substations are not manned 24 hours a day. They instead are intermittently utilized by on duty patrol officers so they can work on reports, evidence, and other work related obligations.
As a reminder for immediate life threatening emergencies dial 911. For all non-emergencies call 253-852-2121.
