For the Reporter

Kent Police are investigating a sexual assault, which occurred on Aug. 6, just after 1 p.m. at a Kent East Hill apartment complex.

Kent patrol units arrived and met with the victim who reported that she was sexually assaulted in her residence by a stranger who entered the unit through an unlocked front door. She said the suspect pointed a knife at her, and directed her into one of the bedrooms. Once inside the room the suspect pushed her on the bed and forcibly kissed her. Fortunately, during the ordeal, the suspect was spooked by a noise whereupon he stopped what he was doing, and fled from the residence.

The suspect is described as a white male, 27-28 years of age, dark hair, with green or blue eyes, with a thick build, and a small bump on his nose. The victim was also able to identify a unique tattoo on the suspects left forearm.

The victim described the tattoo as a “Yin Yang” tattoo that depicts the sun and moon with sun rays around the symbol. The victim also noted that the suspect wore a red bandana and had bad body odor, suggesting that he may be transient.

A sketch artist was able to work with the victim and create a detailed sketch of the suspect. Investigators are hoping the public can help identify this dangerous perpetrator.

“This is a very unusual circumstance,” said Kent Police Detective Melanie Frazier. “We have not had a similar situation or reports of any similar incidents.”
