Kent Police are asking for the public’s help to identify the driver of a car reportedly involved in a fatal hit-and-run on Dec. 27, 2022 along West James Street in Kent.

“The traffic investigators have workable leads and are looking for any additional information that may help to confirm the identity of the driver,” according to a May 30 Kent Police statement.

Police want people to come forward if they were in the area at the time of the incident or know anyone who was involved as a driver, or passenger, in the suspect vehicle.

Officers responded at about 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 27, 2022 to a vehicle hitting a pedestrian incident along West James Street, just west of Fourth Avenue North. The suspect vehicle drove up on a sidewalk, struck a light pole and then hit a 62-year-old woman from Federal Way, according to police. The woman was standing near the bus stop on the north side of West James Street. She died at the scene.

Police found the suspect vehicle abandoned the next day a few blocks away.
