Kent Police are asking for the public’s help to identify a robbery suspect who forcefully snatched a purse from a woman at the intersection of Veterans Drive and Riverview Boulevard South on the West Hill.

Officers were dispatched at about 9 p.m. on Jan. 23 to the intersection where a 38-year-old Kent woman reported that while walking in the area an unknown man approached her and forcefully took her purse, according to a Kent Police media release on Feb. 19. During the ordeal, the man reportedly assaulted the woman prior to fleeing on foot.

The suspect is a black man, 6 feet tall, with a medium build. He is noted as having short natural afro hair type, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Detectives have exhausted efforts to identify the man, and are asking for the public’s help. Anyone with information about this incident or any similar case can call the Kent Police Department tip line at 253-856-5808.
