Kent Police are seeking witnesses and videos to help determine who fatally shot an Auburn man and injured a Kent man on May 16 at the Luxe Hookah Lounge.

Donte L. Green, 29, died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office.

“Detectives have received limited information that led to the shooting death of Donte L. Green and a second man that was shot twice,” said Assistant Chief Jarod Kasner in a May 25 email.

A physical altercation occurred at about 6:25 a.m. inside the lounge, 308 Washington Ave. S., in the same strip mall as Safeway.

Green was shot multiple times and a second victim (a 23-year-old Kent man) who appeared to be attempting to intervene in the fight, received two gunshot wounds (to the hand), Kasner said. Bystanders and witnesses provided first aid but Green was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“Multiple witnesses fled from the lounge prior to the Kent Police officers arriving,” Kasner said.

Police are looking for people to come forward with information.

“Detectives need to speak with additional witnesses and are also seeking any tips, leads, or any information related to Green’s death,” Kasner said. “If anyone has any video and or pictures from the lounge or the parking lot the evening prior to his death, they can upload the videos and photos to the Kent Police Department public evidence submission portal.

That portal is at kentpdwa.evidence.com/axon/citizen/public/homicide-hookah-lounge.

Police also are asking people with information to call the tip line at 253-856-5808 or send an email to KPDTipLine@kentwa.gov.

The shooting is the seventh homicide in the first five months of 2021 in Kent. The city had eight homicides in 2020, four in 2019 and seven in 2018.
