A Kent Police officer sustained minor injuries after colliding with another vehicle at about 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 26 at the intersection of 116th Avenue Southeast and Southeast 208th Street.
“We had an officer responding to an emergency call driving with lights and siren on,” Kent Police Chief Rafael Padilla said in an email. “The officer was attempting to clear the intersection of 116th Avenue SE and SE 208th Street. A vehicle was traveling south through the intersection and that vehicle and the patrol vehicle collided.”
Padilla said the officer sustained minor injuries but was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.
The driver of the other vehicle sustained a fracture to one of his legs and was taken to a hospital for additional treatment, Padilla said. The vehicle had three passengers who sustained minor injuries.
Padilla said traffic investigators are trying to determine the cause of the collision. Police closed the intersection for about two hours.
“This is an active investigation, so I do not have additional information at this time,” Padilla said.
