Kent Police released several documents about the June 24 shooting death of Giovonn Joseph-McDade on the East Hill after a short vehicle pursuit.
Kent Police officer Matthew Rausch, who has been with the department for two-plus years, made the initial stop of Joseph-McDade and began the pursuit when Joseph-McDade took off. Officer William Davis assisted in the call and is the officer who fired the shots that killed the Auburn man and former Kent-Meridian High School student-athlete when Joseph-McDade drove his vehicle toward Davis.
After pleas from relatives and friends of Joseph-McDade to release more information about the case, Police Chief Ken Thomas decided to release documents to the family and the media. Both officers have returned to duty.
