The Kent Police Youth Board and the Kent Police Department will host the 27th annual Game of Life Youth Conference Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 10-11, at the Kent Commons.
Middle school and senior high school students from Kent, Renton, Auburn, Enumclaw, Federal Way and other school districts will participate in the one-day conference, according to a Kent Police media release.
Students will attend workshops that focus on alcohol/drug prevention, youth leadership development, dangers of distracted driving, bullying prevention and more. As part of attending the conference, the school teams implement a student-driven project in the spring focusing on a specific topic in their school. Projects range from drug and alcohol prevention, emphasizing diversity, to bullying prevention.
The conference is planned and implemented by the Kent Police Youth Board, a group of 25 Kent middle and senior high school students who dedicate their time to promote youth well-being and community involvement. It is their goal that the students that attend the conference leave inspired to make a positive change in their schools and communities.
Several community businesses and service groups are funding the conference.
