Kent Police are still looking for a hit-and-run driver involved in a crash that killed a 44-year-old Kent woman on Saturday night in the 25200 block of Pacific Highway South.
“The suspect is still unknown,” said police spokesman Jarod Kasner in a Monday email. “We did learn that the suspect vehicle was a reported stolen vehicle out of Seattle.”
Leimoi Clark died from multiple blunt force injuries, according to a King County Medical Examiner’s Office report on Monday.
A driver in the suspect vehicle was traveling southbound on the highway at about 8 p.m. when it ran a red light and struck another vehicle near the West Hill Fred Meyer store. The driver then fled on foot, police reported.
Clark, a passenger in the vehicle struck by the hit-and-run driver, died as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash, police reported, and two other occupants of the vehicle were stabilized by medical personnel and transported to a local hospital for treatment. Kasner didn’t have an update on Monday about the conditions of the two taken to the hospital.
The southbound lanes were closed and traffic was diverted as investigators began to work the scene.
“Our traffic investigators are working through the information and the evidence that was collected,” Kasner said.
