Kent Police confirmed that a second man has died from among the three men shot early Sunday morning during a dispute at a strip mall in the 18100 block of East Valley Highway.

A 46-year-old man fatally shot a 31-year-old man, according to a police media release Monday morning. Another man then shot the 46 year old, critically injuring him, and fatally shot a 28-year-old man.

“Preliminary information is that a verbal dispute took place in front of the strip mall and quickly escalated,” according to a police statement in the media release. “It is believed that this was an isolated incident confined to those directly involved. Detectives are gathering information from witnesses and evidence from the scene, meticulously working all the information that is obtained in connection with this incident in an effort to clarify the circumstances that led to this shooting.”

Joseph Nguyen, 28, of Seattle, died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to a Monday report from the King County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The names of the others involved in the case have been tentatively identified by police but their information will not be released pending confirmation and notification of their families, according to the media release. Police have not yet released hometowns of those involved or the total number of people connected to the dispute.

Officers were dispatched to the report of an illegal discharge at about 3:20 a.m. somewhere east of the 18000 block of East Valley Highway near the Kent-Renton border, but nothing was found.

About 20 minutes later, a security guard on patrol in the area found a man on the ground in the 18100 block in a strip mall off the main roadway. Officers arrived and found a man with a fatal gunshot wound and a second man also with a gunshot wound. The second man was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with life-threatening injuries.

A third man with a gunshot wound was transported by a private vehicle to Valley Medical Center in Renton and later transported to Harborview with life-threatening injuries.
