Kent Police took a 14-year-old boy into custody in connection with an alleged sexual assault of an 8-year-old girl.
Police responded at about 4:27 p.m. Thursday to the Red Lion Hotel, 25100 74th Ave. S., for a report of a sexual assault in the woods behind the hotel, according to a Kent Police media release.
The girl told police the boy was a friend of one of her family members. Police searched the area and tracked down the boy at a nearby residence.
“A case of this nature is no doubt disturbing, and hits us all to the core” said Detective Melanie Frazier. “We are very proud that our officers were able to quickly get this dangerous offender off our streets.”
The girl received treatment at a nearby hospital.
