Kent Police are investigating the death of a man found in the 1000 block of First Avenue North near the BNSF Railway tracks.
Officers and Puget Sound Fire personnel were dispatched at about 2:49 p.m. Sunday, April 21 after a 911 caller reported finding a deceased person, according to an April 22 Kent Police news release.
Upon arrival, first responders found a dead man near the tracks. Puget Sound Fire firefighters said that their initial opinion was that the man had been dead for at least a day. No personal effects or ID were located at the scene. As of Monday morning, April 22, the man remain unidentified.
Officers contacted people living near the scene, but they had not witnessed anything suspicious and did not know the man. The man was 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighed 130 to 150 pounds and had black hair, according to police.
The King County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene and will be investigating the cause of death, to include if the injuries sustained were caused by a passing train. Kent Police will continue to investigate the circumstances that preceded the man’s death.
