Kent Police say the search for a suspect in two killings at a transient camp remains a top priority but that they have no further information to release about the case.
Police found a woman who had been shot to death last Friday in a remote wooded area in the 22200 block of 88th Avenue Southeast, just east of Highway 167. On Saturday, police found a man who had been shot to death in the same basic area, according to a police media release.
On Tuesday, police spokesman Jarod Kasner released the following statement in response to several questions about the killings:
“There is no updated information to be released at this time,” Kasner said. “I will tell you that this is the Kent Police Department’s top priority and our detectives are diligently working through all the information.”
The identifications of the two victims has not yet been released by the police or the King County Medical Examiner’s Office, although police said they have tentatively identified the man and the woman.
Police are looking for a person of interest in the killings, which they consider to be related.
A suspect in these cases has been described as a white male, with short reddish hair and an unshaven appearance. The suspect may be riding a dark-colored bicycle with a basket over the rear wheel and was last seen wearing a white tank top. A weapon in these cases has not been recovered. The suspect is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached by the public.
Police said they were unaware that the homeless camp existed. The site includes several tents.
