Thanks to a “Washington’s Most Wanted” viewer tip, convicted rapist Darren Nelson is once again behind bars. He was captured this past Friday by Kent Police and was taken into custody without incident.
Nelson was featured on “Washington’s Most Wanted” Oct. 15 and 16. He was convicted of first-degree and second-degree assault for a 1994 stranger rape in downtown Seattle.
According to court records, Nelson repeatedly hit the victim with his fist, a broken bottle and a rock, then raped the victim.
Nelson served 15 years but did not participate in any sex offender treatment while incarcerated. Nelson also had a conviction for possession of stolen property in the state of Louisiana where he was extradited upon release for his 1994 rape conviction.
He was released from the Louisiana prison on July 20, 2009 and put on a bus back to Seattle where he arrived on July 23, 2009. He was given specific reporting instructions and failed to register.
