Kent Police arrested a man for investigation of fourth-degree assault after he reportedly threw a telephone receiver that hit his girlfriend in the nose during a dispute.

Kent Police arrested a man for investigation of fourth-degree assault after he reportedly threw a telephone receiver that hit his girlfriend in the nose during a dispute.

Officers responded to a report of a telephone thrown at a woman at about 7:05 p.m. May 6 at an apartment in the 13100 block of Southeast 274th Court, according to the police report.

The woman told officers they had dated for about four years and had a child in common. The woman was upset at her boyfriend because he was drunk.

The man called his mother to come pick him up and his mother started to yell at him on the phone. The man then reportedly became upset at his mother and threw the telephone receiver and hit his girlfriend in the nose.

The boyfriend told officers that he was attacked. When officers asked him how that attack happened, he told them that was for lawyers and attorneys to hear.

Theft

Police arrested two young men for investigation of theft after they allegedly took a mirror from above the sink at about 4:15 p.m. May 6 at a restaurant restroom in the 300 block of East Smith Street.

A King County Sheriff’s Office deputy saw two men walk past him with a mirror and he later stopped them at the Town Square Plaza, according to the police report. The deputy saw the men sitting on a park bench with the mirror next to them. Officers returned the mirror to the restaurant.

One of the men told police he took the mirror because he was bored.

“You just don’t understand how boring it is around here,” said the man, who also added, “I know it was stupid.”

Assault

Police arrested a woman for investigation of fourth-degree assault after she allegedly punched her boyfriend in the face after a dispute that started after the two were celebrating Cinco de Mayo at a bar in the 24200 block of 104th Avenue Southeast.

The man had a cut below his right eye, according to the police report.

The boyfriend said the dispute started when he said he wanted to go visit his mother on Mother’s Day, but that he and his girlfriend have trust issues.

The dispute continued in the parking lot of the bar when they argued over holding on to the keys to their car. The man told police he had 12 to 15 drinks of beer and liquor during the day and that his girlfriend also had a lot to drink.

The woman reportedly hit the man when she got out of the car and he then pushed her to the ground. Witnesses at the bar said the woman hit the man. Both the man and the woman told officers they responded to the other in self defense.

Vehicle prowl

Police arrested a man for investigation of vehicle prowl after he allegedly broke windows to break in to two vehicles at about 3 p.m. May 5 at the Kent Station parking garage near 301 Railroad Avenue.

A witness spotted a man looking into cars at the parking garage, according to the police report.

Officers were able to track the man down on the first floor of the garage. Two vehicle owners reported to police that their right rear passenger windows were broken while parked at the garage.

The man reportedly took a portable media player from one of the vehicles and removed a couple of bags from a second vehicle.
