Incidents include gun threats, attempted robberies, commercial burglaries

A sampling of Kent Police incidents July 12 to 24:

July 12

Gun threat: 4:06 a.m., officers were dispatched to a threat with a weapon call at the Phoenix Court Apartments, 23913 111th Pl. SE. The victim, a security guard with Elite Protection Agency, was approached by a female who made a comment to him suggesting a white box truck parked nearby was stolen. The security guard walked up to the box truck to investigate and the driver pulled out and pointed a handgun at him. The victim backed away and the box truck drove over the curbing and fled the area.

July 14

Shots fired: 10:14 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 10300 block of SE 204th St., regarding an illegal discharge. An unknown vehicle pulled up and someone fired at least nine rounds hitting the residence. There were no injuries.

July 16

Attempted robbery: 3:08 p.m., officers were dispatched to an attempted armed robbery at the ATM at the Bank of America at 311 Fourth Ave. N. The victim withdrew a couple hundred dollars from an ATM. After doing so, he turned around and the suspect was standing behind him pointing a handgun demanding his money. The victim attempted to use pepper spray on the suspect. The suspect fled in a vehicle.

July 18

Shots hit vehicles, homes: 2:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of 124th Avenue SE and SE 199th Street in reference to the sounds of gunshots. Two residences and multiple vehicles had bullet holes in them. No one was injured and 28 casings from three different firearms were located in the street.

July 19

Theft attempt: 2:20 a.m., officers responded to a commercial alarm at Tractor Supply, 8420 S. 228th St. Upon arrival they located a hole in the fence and a subject walking away from the business. The subject ran from officers but was apprehended across the street. He was in possession of wire cutters and made comments that he intended to steal from the business.

Attempted robbery: 11:35 p.m., officers were dispatched to a recent robbery at the Benson Village Apartments, 10820 SE 211th Pl. The victim arrived at the apartment complex with food and was confronted in the parking lot by the suspect. The suspect pulled a handgun and began demanding her wallet and keys. The victim refused. The suspect got into a sedan and fled the scene.

July 21

Vehicle prowlers: 3:40 a.m., a homeowner caught two subjects prowling his vehicle. One suspect took off in a vehicle. The other suspect fled on foot. The vehicle was stopped by officers and the driver was arrested. The second suspect was tracked through a backyard and found hiding inside a shed and he was arrested. The stolen items were recovered and returned to the victim.

July 23

Commercial burglary: 2:25 a.m., officers responded to the 25200 block of Pacific Highway South to assist King County Sheriff’s Office deputies who witnessed a commercial burglary. A deputy was in the area checking on a call for service when he observed a truck run through a gate coming out from behind the Del Rio Supermarket, 24811 Pacific Highway S. The deputy stopped the vehicle and the driver fled. The passenger was detained and eventually arrested. The owner of the business was contacted and confirmed the suspects broke into his business and stole his truck. Another subject was located and detained during a K-9 track and was arrested on outstanding warrants.

Weapon threat: 5:51 p.m., officers responded to a threat with a weapon call in the 24200 block of Frager Road S. The incident began when the victims witnessed what appeared to be a hit and run accident. They decided to follow the vehicle that fled the scene of the accident northbound on Frager Road. When they came upon the dead end, they passed the suspect vehicle which was parked on the side of the road and tried to turn around. The suspect vehicle blocked them in, the suspect got out, and pointed a handgun at the victims. A confrontation ensued, but the victims were able to flee in their vehicle as the suspect gave chase. Officers eventually located the suspect vehicle and arrested the driver.

July 24

Commercial burglary: 6:56 a.m., officers were dispatched to a recent commercial burglary at Modern Beauty Salon, 1601 W.Meeker St. Upon arrival they found the window was broken allowing someone entry into the business. Officers reviewed the surveillance video depicting two subjects entering the business stealing items. One of the subjects was located by other officers during an area search and taken into custody.
