Incidents include multiple store robberies, shootings

A sampling of Kent Police incidents Feb. 28 to March 12:

Feb. 28

City Smoke Shop burglary: 6:24 a.m., officers were dispatched to a burglary at the City Smoke Shop, 417 Central Ave. S. The incident occurred around 4 a.m. when the alarm company reported watching two suspects breaking into the store. The suspects were attempting to take the safe. The suspects ended up taking around $1,500 in cash along with e-cigarettes and pipes.

March 1

Teen shot: 7:06 a.m., officers were dispatched to a report of a shooting in the area of South 256th Street and 35th Place South. A 17-year-old male was in the street outside his house with a gunshot wound. Medics transported him to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Witnesses reported hearing one gunshot, followed by a white vehicle fleeing the area.

March 2

Domestic assault: 8:33 p.m., officers were dispatched to a domestic assault within the Avante Apartments. The victim had been severely strangled during an argument with her boyfriend. The victim was sent to the hospital for medical treatment. The suspect was arrested.

March 4

Starbucks attempted robbery: 6:23 a.m., officers were dispatched to a robbery at Starbucks, 18016 71st Ave. S. The employee stated the suspect ordered a drink in the drive thru and came to the window. When the employee greeted the suspect, he pulled out a gun, pointed it at the employee, and threw a bag at her demanding money. The employee ran away from the window and called 911. The suspect fled the scene without getting anything from the business.

Apartment shooting: 3:31 p.m., officers were dispatched to an illegal discharge that occurred within the Benson 18 Apartments. Witnesses reported that a subject in the back seat of a vehicle had fired a gun multiple times at an apartment and then fled the area. Multiple apartments and a vehicle had been hit during the shooting. There was some sort of dispute occurred in the parking lot and a male suspect ended up firing a rifle causing damage. The suspect got into a vehicle and fled the scene.

March 5

Male shot: 12:06 p.m., officers were dispatched to a shooting in the 12000 block of SE 222nd Place. One male shot another male during an argument and the suspect fled on foot. A K-9 track was conducted, but the suspect was not located.

March 6

Shots fired: 3:41 a.m., patrol responded to an illegal discharge at Driftwood Apartments, 1610 W. James St. Dispatch advised 3-4 gunshots were heard, then a vehicle sped away. Officers arrived and found two males armed with a rifle and a handgun. They were detained without further incident. One subject said he showed up after the incident. The other stated he interrupted his car being prowled near the leasing office. He said there were several subjects involved. When he went to confront them, he was armed with a handgun. When he confronted them, one of the suspects pointed a gun at him. The male said he fired three rounds from his handgun towards the subject pointing the gun at him. The suspects then fled the area.

Fire station shooting: 3:50 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a shooting that occurred prior at Puget Sound Fire Station 71, 504 W. Crow St. Employees located three bullet holes in their building and one of the rounds struck one of their work vehicles. No one was injured.

March 7

Car wash damage: 4:45 a.m., officers responded to two suspicious vehicles with the occupants damaging property at Meridian Car Wash, 23907 132nd Ave. SE. Officers attempted to contact a truck that was at the location, but it quickly fled the parking lot. They went to contact the other vehicle, but a male suspect took off running on foot. Officers foot pursued the suspect and were able to detain him in handcuffs. While officers were frisking the suspect for weapons, the suspect retrieved a handgun from his waistband and pointed it at one of the officers. The suspect was quickly disarmed without further incident.

Little Caesars robbery: 8:31 p.m., officers were dispatched to a robbery at Little Caesars, 27020 Pacific Highway S. The employee was working in the back and when she returned to the main area, she saw the female suspect standing near the counter with a handgun at her side. The suspect demanded money and the employee gave her the cash register tray that had an unknown amount of money. The suspect then fled on foot.

March 8

Apartment shooting: 8:33 a.m., an officer responded to a shooting at the Valli Kee Apartments, 23401 104th Ave. SE. Two bullets had entered an apartment causing damage. No one was injured.

Apartment stabbing: 8:56 p.m., officers responded to a stabbing at Phoenix Court Apartments, 23913 111th Place SE. The victim got into a verbal altercation with another male at a party within the complex. During the altercation the victim was stabbed multiple times. Officer rendered aid with chest seals and King County Medic One transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition. The suspect fled on foot.

March 9

Little Deli Mart robbery: 9:51 a.m., officers were dispatched to a robbery at the Little Deli Mart, 19243 84th Ave. S. Two suspects entered the business armed with a handgun and demanded money. One suspect pointed the gun at the employee, and she gave them $200 in cash from the register. The suspects fled and the victim was able to provide a description of the suspect’s vehicle.

Java Java robbery: 11:50 a.m., officers were dispatched to an armed robbery at Java Java, 15218 SE 272nd St. The suspect passed a note demanding money and fired a round into the touchpad for the cash register. No one was injured. The suspect fled the area.

Multiple shots fired: 10:51 p.m., officers were dispatched to an illegal discharge at the Benson 18 Apartments. The incident occurred at the intersection of SE 223rd Street and 110th Avenue SE. There were at least 96 spent casings scattered around. Two females stated they were dropped off at the intersection so they could walk across the street to their apartment within the Benson 18 when four suspects in masks got out of a vehicle behind them and fired all the rounds at the victims.

March 10

Stabbing: 3:35 p.m., officers were dispatched to a stabbing at the Thea Bowman Apartments, 23920 32nd Ave. S. The suspect was yelling inside her apartment, so the victim went over to see if she was OK. After knocking on the door and getting no answer, the victim went back to her apartment. Shortly thereafter, the victim heard a knock at her door, opened it, saw the suspect was holding a steak knife and proceeded to stab her in the arm. The suspect was taken into custody.

March 11

ampm store robbery: 9:36 a.m., officers were dispatched to a robbery that occurred at the ampm store, 13130 SE Kent Kangley Rd. The suspect entered the store, pointed a gun at employees and demanded money from the register and from their back office. The suspect fled in a vehicle with $6,500 in cash.

Shots fired: 1:22 p.m., officers were dispatched to a shooting at the Chandlers Bay Apartments, 1020 Central Ave. N. The victim was walking through the parking lot to his apartment, when he saw a vehicle occupied by the male suspect consuming suspected narcotics. The victim told the suspect he needed to leave. The suspect backed out and then fired at least one round at the victim.

7-Eleven robbery: 11:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to a robbery at 7-Eleven, 511 Central Ave. S. A male suspect entered the store with a gun in hand and demanded money. The suspect went behind the counter to confront the clerk and took around $400 from the register. The suspect then tried to take the victim’s wallet and keys. When the victim declined, the suspect hit him with the handgun. The suspect eventually fled in a vehicle.

Another 7-Eleven robbery: 11:52 p.m., officers were dispatched to a robbery at 7-Eleven, 26220 116th Ave. SE. The male suspect entered the store armed with a handgun and demanded money. The suspect took around $400 from the cash register and then was seen leaving in a vehicle.

March 12

Yet another 7-Eleven robbery: 12:25 a.m., officers were dispatched to a robbery at 7-Eleven, 1208 Central Ave. N. The suspect pulled out a handgun and told the victim to put money in a bag. The suspect made off with around $250 and fled in a vehicle.
