Kent Police arrested a man for investigation of a Seattle shooting and multiple carjackings.
Officers responded at about 1:51 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7 to the 6400 block of South 212th Street regarding a Seattle Police request to locate a stolen vehicle, according to Kent Police.
The man had reportedly been involved in a shooting and carjacking in Seattle just prior to 1 p.m. in the 2300 block of Eastlake Avenue East, according to the Seattle Police Blotter. The vehicle owner had been shot in the leg.
Kent officers located the vehicle at a business in the 6400 block of South 212th Street and immediately set up a perimeter around the area. Officers laid down multiple sets of spike strips to slow down the vehicle in the event it attempted to leave the parking lot.
The suspect did flee, driving on deflated tires, according to Kent Police. He was taken into custody without incident following a short pursuit that ended in Renton. The man was reportedly in possession of a stolen firearm when arrested.
Bellevue Police also suspect the man in a carjacking at gunpoint earlier Monday. Kent Police had a similar carjacking at about 11:45 a.m. on the East Hill. Detectives are trying to determine if that carjacking is related to the incidents in Seattle and Bellevue.
Seattle Police will take custody of the man, according to Kent Police. An age and hometown for the man has not been released.
