Kent Police arrested a 59-year-old man for allegedly killing his 60-year-old male roommate.
Officers responded at about 11:45 p.m. Thursday, May 12 to a fight between two roommates in the area of 27600 123rd Avenue SE, according to Kent Police.
Dispatch advised officers that one of the men was unconscious and CPR was started. Officers arrived and found a man attempting to give CPR to the victim. Officers took over life-saving efforts until Puget Sound Fire medics arrived. The man died at the scene from his injuries.
Officers detained the 59-year-old man at the location and took him into custody. Detectives interviewed the man and arrested him for investigation of second-degree murder, according to police.
Detectives continue to investigate to determine what led up to the altercation.
The King County Medical Examiner’s Office will later release the man’s identity and the cause and manner of death.
Third homicide this year
This is the third homicide in 2022 in Kent.
A 44-year-old Kent man was found fatally shot inside a vehicle Jan. 27 in the area of Green River Road and South 277th Street. A 25-year-old man was fatally shot April 7 in the area of the Hillcrest Cemetery, 1005 Reiten Road.
Kent had 14 homicides in 2021, eight in 2020, four in 2019 and seven in 2018.
