Kent Police arrested a 29-year-old Kent man Wednesday for investigation of first-degree assault in connection with the Tuesday evening shooting in the Panther Lake area that injured a 31-year-old Seattle man.

Kent detectives and gang task force members arrested the man Wednesday night without incident, according to a Kent Police media release.

The Seattle man suffered serious injuries from a single gunshot wound to his torso. Officers responded at about 6:59 p.m. Tuesday to the 20500 block of 108th Avenue Southeast and found the Seattle man on the ground in the parking lot outside of the Great American Casino.

The man was conscious and breathing when found. Kent Fire Department and medical personnel treated the man, who was stabilized and transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. There were no other persons injured during the incident.

Working from witness information and evidence recovered during their investigation, detectives were able to quickly identify and locate the alleged shooter.

We are very happy to have the gunman in custody quickly and without further incident,” said Kent Police Lt. Pat Lowery.

Meanwhile, detectives continue to investigate the circumstances that led to the shooting, though they do not anticipate any additional arrests at this time.

It was not a random shooting, according to police.
