A 51-year-old woman died from stab wounds during a domestic dispute Wednesday afternoon in the 9500 block of South 207th Place in Kent.
Officers arrested the woman’s 54-year-old husband for investigation of first-degree murder, said Kent Police spokeswoman Melanie Robinson in an email. He remains in custody at the King County jail. The case has been turned over by police to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
Officers confronted the man when they arrived at the scene at about 2:25 p.m. He had blood on his clothes and was holding a large knife, which he dropped when officers surrounded him, according to a Kent Police media release.
Paramedics treated the woman for her injuries but she later died at a local hospital.
The husband reportedly stabbed his wife multiple times as a domestic dispute escalated. The man then walked down the street still carrying the knife until police arrived. Officers took him into custody without incident.
Detectives continue to investigate the case to clarify the circumstances that led to the stabbing.
