Parents know once school is out, finding healthy activities for teenagers can be a challenge. Teen Camp, offered by Kent Parks and Recreation, provides seventh-, eighth- and ninth-graders a fun and safe experience throughout the summer.
Teen Camp is offered every weekday from June 24 until Aug. 16, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Mill Creek Middle School, 620 N. Central Ave., Kent.
According to youth and teen program specialist Dave Hobbs, teens can look forward to days filled with a variety of activities, including sports, games and adventures that will keep them active and engaged throughout the summer.
“We’re especially excited to offer weekly field trips as part of the week’s activities. From beaches to baseball games, we’ve got a great lineup,” Hobbs said.
Weekly field trip schedule and fee:
• June 24–28, Acme Bowl and Van Doren’s Landing Park, $165
• July 1-5*, Game Works**, $132
• July 8–12, Olympic Sculpture and Salt Water State Parks, $165
• July 15–19, EMP and Gene Coulon Beach, $165
• July 22–26, Tacoma Rainiers and Steel Lake, $165
• July 29-Aug. 2, Parade of Ships and Redondo Beach, $165
• Aug. 5–9, Pacific Science Center and Alki Beach, $165
• Aug. 12–16, Lake Meridian – twice, $165
* No camp on July 4; ** Only one trip
Fees include all camp activities including field trips and snacks. Free lunch is provided by the Kent School District.
