January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month, and Kent has joined the effort.
Kent Youth and Family Services (KYFS) – in association with Kent Police – is raising awareness throughout the community with programs and events. The campaign aims to better educate and inform schools, service clubs and health care clinics about the problem.
KYFS – in conjunction with city leaders – is proclaiming Jan. 23 as Kent’s Human Trafficking Awareness Day. A formal proclamation is expected to be made at the Jan. 16 City Council meeting.
MOD Pizza at Kent Station, 417 Ramsay Way, Suite 105, hosts a fundraiser on Jan. 23, of which 20 percent of the proceeds will support the agency’s human trafficking prevention efforts.
KYFS also is organizing online donation drive through Facebook.
